What the research found

This is the Corsi block test, a standard check of short-term visual memory. In 340 healthy adults aged 21 to 89, the average span was about 5 blocks. It was shorter at older ages and longer with more years of school, so your span is compared with people of your age and schooling. The study used wooden blocks on a board, so this on-screen version is a rough guide.
